Kunos Simulazioni has officially announced Assetto Corsa Competizione, the new official game of the Blancpain GT Series. The news comes after the developer teased an upcoming announcement last week.
The Blancpain GT Series is official grand touring racing series organized by Swiss manufacturer Blancpain and SRO Motorsports Group, and Assetto Corsa Competizione will see players experience the “real atmosphere” of the FIA GT3 Championship as they compete against the official drivers, teams, cars, and circuits with Kunos Simulazioni’s level of accuracy and attention to detail that you come to expect from Assetto Corsa.
Assetto Corsa Competizione is built on Unreal Engine 4, and will utilize “photorealistic weather conditions and graphics,” according to Kunos Simulazioni, delivering the “highest quality rendering to reach a new standard in driving realism and immersion racing.”
As you can see from the trailer below, which is all captured in-game at 4K resolution, Assetto Corsa Competizione looks graphically stunning, though that would be maxed out on a high-end PC of course. It will also feature night time and wet-weather conditions – a first for Assetto Corsa.
Assetto Corsa Competizione features cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and several other GT race cars that have been crafted with “an outstanding level of detail.”
Kunos Simulazioni has even used motion capture technology to create the animations of mechanics and drivers in the game, resulting in a high level of player engagement during races, pit stops and driver changes.
Assetto Corsa Competizione will also have “advanced multiplayer functionality,” including a ranking system which will evaluate individual performance and driving behaviour to reward the most virtuous drivers and promote fair play in online competitions.
Kunos Simulazioni will release Assetto Corsa Competizione on Steam Early Access this Summer. There’s no word yet on a final release date, nor console versions. Like Assetto Corsa, this new version will also be published by 505 Games.
