After reviving Crash in his adventure to stop Doctor Neo Cortex once more in the N. Sane Trilogy, Crash Bandicoot is ready to take his victory lap in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.

Announced at The Game Awards 2018 in Los Angeles this past week, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled releases on June 21st, 2019 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Activision Publishing has already confirmed that the title will take advantage of the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro consoles, just like Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is being developed by Activision’s Beenox studio, which developed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and worked alongside Treyarch on the acclaimed PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Remastered to take advantage of the latest HD and 4K displays, Crash Team Racing has been refuelled with stunning new visuals and all-new content, including online multiplayer racing.

Crash Team Racing was originally developed by Uncharted and Last of Us developer Naughty Dog for the Sony PlayStation in 1999. Here's a comparison of the old visuals versus the new ones.

Players will be able to get behind the wheel as Crash, Coco, Dr. Neo Cortex, and other familiar faces from the Crash Bandicoot series as they put the pedal to the medal and race against the one and only Nitros Oxide – the self-proclaimed “fastest racer in the galaxy” in order to save the planet.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled features all the characters, karts, tracks and arenas from the original Crash racing game – all remastered in HD, with Crash and friends’ expressions and antics redesigned and rebuilt in modern detail. Blasting each other with power-ups and power-sliding around corners has never looked so good in the Crash universe.

In addition to online and offline play, Crash Team Racing features all the beloved classic modes like Adventure, Arcade Single Race, Cup Race, Time Trials and Battle Mode. You can also play with friends offline via split-screen play.

“The love that fans have for Crash Team Racing goes beyond just a fun kart racing game, and we’re excited to finally show fans what we’ve been working on to celebrate its 20th anniversary,” said Thomas Wilson, Co-Studio Head at Beenox. “Not only are we revamping Crash Team Racing from the kart up in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, we are giving fans a whole lot more including all the characters and tracks they love, with tons of added animations and personality that the original platforms just couldn’t convey. We can’t wait to see fans go head-to-head as they test their Crash kart racing mettle in online multiplayer.”

Activision is offering two bundles of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. There’s the Standard Edition, available to pre-order today for $39.99, whilst the Nitros Oxide Edition is also available to pre-purchase for $59.99. The Nitrous Oxide Edition is a digital deluxe version of the game that makes Nitros Oxide a playable character in all modes immediately at release. Players who purchase this version of the game will also receive Oxide’s Hovercraft kart, space-themed character skins for Crash, Coco, Cortex, and “much more” to be announced by Activision in the future.

The difference between the classic 1999 visuals and the newly-remastered graphics is staggering.

If you don’t fancy shelling out extra for the Nitrous Oxide Edition, then don’t fret – Activision says the Nitros Oxide character and his accompanying hovercraft kart can be unlocked by completing “some of the fiercest challenges in the Adventure Mode.”

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on June 21st, 2019. You can pre-order it from digital storefronts on the aforementioned consoles or via retailers around the world. Get ready to start your engines, as Crash Bandicoot is back and ready to hit the track for both compeititve online and offline gameplay in stunning remastered visuals to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Crash Team Racing.
