Microsoft has announced that Forza Motorsport 6 will be available to download for free via its Xbox Live Games with Gold initiative from Thursday, August 15th.

It comes before the title officially enters “End of Life” status one month later, on September 15th, as noted in the latest edition of the Forza Motorsport Week in Review. This means that the game and all its associated downloadable content, including Car Packs and expansions, will no longer be available for purchase.

Those who own Forza Motorsport 6 before that date will still be able to download and play the game with any purchased add-on content as normal, but the game and its associated add-on content will be delisted from September 15th and no longer available to purchase from the Xbox Store.

For the convenience of users, Microsoft will bundle all Forza Motorsport 6 add-on content into one package for a mere $5, including all the Car Packs with the Porsche and NASCAR expansions. That sale begins on August 15th, the same date the title becomes available to download for free via Xbox Live Games with Gold. Keep in mind, this bundle will only be available for a short time period, so be sure to take advantage of the offer before it’s gone for good.

Forza Motorsport 6 launched in September 2015 as an Xbox One console exclusive, featuring more than 450 Forzavista cars that can be raced across 26 world famous track locales in native 1080p at a blistering 60fps, either online or in the expansive Stories of Motorsport career mode. The game also combines competitive 24-player on-track racing across day, night or rain weather scenarios. The Games with Gold version of Forza Motorsport 6 also features the Ten-Year Anniversary Pack, featuring 10 unique cars with bespoke tunes and liveries applied.

As a reminder, Forza Motorsport 6 will be available to download for free on Xbox Live Games with Gold from August 15th. This month’s other titles include Gears of War 4, available to download from August 1st until the end of the month ahead of the highly anticipated release of Gears 5 this September 10th. The Xbox 360 titles, playable on Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility, include Torchlight – available from August 1st to 15th, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – available from August 16th to 31st.
