The 2018 Honda Civic Type R is coming to all Forza Motorsport 7 players for free with the May Content Update, rolling out today on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, developer Turn 10 Studios has announced.
The month of May will be a celebration for Honda in Forza Motorsport 7, with various Honda-themed events and challenges available in the game, alongside the introduction of various improvements to the game – including an eagerly-awaited fix to an issue that allowed players to unlock previously locked livery designs and save them as their own.
Of course, the 2018 Honda Civic Type R is the star of the show for Forza Motorsport 7’s May Content Update. This race-bred hot hatch equals over-the-top lines with aggressive performance, and all Forza Motorsport 7 players will have it automatically downloaded and added to their garage for free once they’ve installed the May Content Update.
Ready to put the “hot” in hot hatch? Honda’s latest is a track-ready, five-door hatchback that pulls out all the stops in performance and styling; from the functional scoops and curves that feed the turbo-charged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and aid in aerodynamics, to the massive wing that screams “Look at me!” and delivers massive downforce.
The chassis tuning is sublime and immensely precise; little wonder that the Type R set the front-wheel drive production car record at the Nürburgring. So, race it! Pit this 306-hp front-wheel-drive sweetheart against the best in its division and enjoy the view from the top step of the podium.
In addition to the arrival of the new 2018 Honda Civic Type R, there’s plenty of online events happening in Forza Motorsport 7 over the month of May, including several Honda-centric events.
Rivals mode has introduced the ‘May Spotlight Challenge – Honda’ which sees players hot-lapping the 2018 Honda Civic Type R on Suzuka West. This event will be available until the end of the month, and all participants will receive the 1997 Honda Civic Type R Forza Edition as a reward.
In addition, the ForzaRC 2018 Qualifier #4 will see competitors hot-lapping the 2016 Honda Civic Type R at the Watkins Glen Full Alt circuit between Monday, May 14th and Wednesday, May 16th in the final Rivals Qualifier
of Series 1 of the 2018 Forza Racing
Championship season. Participants will unlock the Honda Driver Gear suit for competing in this one.
There’s also the ForzaRC 2018 Booster #3 Rivals event from Thursday, May 10th to Saturday, May 12th. This one won’t feature Honda. Instead, drivers will be competing to set the best times in the 2014 Chevrolet #4 ROAL Motorsport RML Cruze TC1 WTCC on Brands Hatch GP to earn additional Forza Points to improve their leaderboard position in the competition.
In terms of Hoppers, you’ll likely be aware of the new slate of permanent
“evergreen” Multiplayer Hoppers in Forza Motorsport 7, which consists of the full line-up of Class-based Hoppers, as well as Drag, Drift, and Playground Hoppers. In addition, there’s new Division-based Hoppers, including Modern Hot Hatch with cosmetic damage, and Supercar Renaissance – ghosted.
Later this month, players can look forward to the Hot Hatch Genesis Division Hopper, where you’ll be able to take out the Honda CRX-X SiR or the Civic Si in your garage for a run on the track in online races. Perhaps the Prelude Si or SH are more your thing? Look out for the Sport Compact Icons Division Hopper available later in May.
Finally, there’s also the sixth season of Forza Racing
Leagues in Forza Motorsport 7. The ‘Storming Motors’ League has a little something for everyone, including new events such as Class-based racing and even drifting. Don’t miss our article for the full rundown of Season
6 events for Leagues in Forza Motorsport 7, as well as our dedicated
Rivals story which has everything you need to know about the current Rivals events available in the game that weren’t mentioned in this article.
It’s also worth mentioning that the next Leagues season will include a new set of events with the 2018 Honda Civic Type R will be one of the featured cars in the season. Looking out for details on Season 7 of Forza Racing Leagues later in the month. In the meantime, there’s also a new
batch of Forzathon events available to complete in May, including prizes to unlock such as the 2013 Dodge Dart GT Forza Edition and the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
The May Content Update is now available for Forza Motorsport 7 on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. It’s a 270MB download on Xbox One and Xbox One S, but those on Xbox One X and Windows 10 PC will require a 550MB download.
In addition to the 2018 Honda Civic Type R and the new events mentioned above, the patch also addresses a pair of crash bugs mentioned on the official
Forza Forums – one which mainly affected Xbox One players, whilst the other one mostly affected Windows 10 PC players, whilst introducing a fix for the livery unlock and stealing issue.
Turn 10 Studios has yet to confirm if we’ll see a Car Pack or any additional content for Forza Motorsport 7 unmentioned in this article later this month. As we know, the K1 Speed
Car Pack from April was the final one to be featured in the Forza Motorsport 7 Car Pass.
