Happy New Year! 2019 has officially arrived and with it comes the first seasonal change of this New Year in Forza Horizon 4’s beautiful, historic Britain. This week it’s all about Winter as Britain and Fortune Island turn into a snowy winter wonderland full of new activities and events to discover. The Derwent Water also freezes over into an ice lake this time of year to deliver some slippery fun, as well as a new drag strip that’s exclusive to this perilous season.

Forza Horizon 4’s weekly seasonal changes are designed to allow players to always have something new to discover every week in Britain. They change every Thursday at 2:30pm GMT (9:30am EST, 6:30am PST). The return of Winter marks the third seasonal change of Series 4, which will wrap up after next week following the arrival of Spring. With that in-mind, let’s have a look at everything that’s new to discover today in Forza Horizon 4!

Horizon Winter Seasonal Championships

Playground Games has a series of exclusive items up for grabs in this week’s Seasonal Championships. These include two exclusive cars in the 1952 Hudson Hornet and the 2011 Citroen DS 3 Racing, both of which can be unlocked from the ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and the ‘Tortoise and the Hare’ Seasonal Championships, respectively. There’s also a ‘Happy New Year’ catchphrase for Quick Chat available to unlock from this week’s seasonal Trial event dubbed ‘White-Knuckle Ride.’

Meanwhile, the ‘Winter Wonderland’ Seasonal Championship offers the Toyota AT38, whilst the latest Seasonal PR Stunts include the Outcrop Crest Danger Sign, which challenges you to jump 230 metres, and the City Suburbs Drift Zone in Edinburgh, which tasks you to earn 150,000 Drift Score. Beating the challenges offered by Seasonal PR Stunts will grant you a bonus Wheelspin or Super Wheelspin.

Fortune Island Seasonal Championships

Fortune Island has three additional Seasonal Championships for players to check out, including series for asphalt, dirt and cross-country racing. ‘Rally Skildar’ sees you in B Class Modern Rally Cars against the island’s harshest weather conditions, ‘Lowland Tour’ sees you in B Class Hot Hatches as you avoid sliding off the road into snow-filled ditches, whilst ‘Causing A Stir’ challenges you to battle your opponents in B Class Off-road Vehicles. As for Seasonal PR Stunts, the Oldlarch Forest Speed Trap tasks you to achieve 225km/h, whilst the Westwick Launch Danger Sign requires you to jump 220 metres in the vehicle of your choice.

Completing Fortune Island Seasonal Championships and PR Stunts will see you earn additional Wheelspins that can unlock a variety of unique items, including bonus credits, rare cars, vehicle horns and clothing. Fortune Island will continue to receive an assortment of dedicated Seasonal Championships and PR Stunts every Thursday to accompany the mainland season change and these will always remain exclusive to owners of the expansion.

Winter Forzathon – Long Tons of Fun

This week’s Forzathon event celebrates the New Year in-style by tasking players to own and drive their Extreme Offroad vehicle of choice in Forza Horizon 4. Once you’ve chosen your favourite, you’ll be then tasked to win 3 Cross-Country events, followed by 20 Wreckage skills and 9 stars from Danger Signs. This Forzathon event can be completed on both mainland Britain and Fortune Island, so the choice of scenery is up to you.

Complete the weekly Forzathon event and you’ll earn yourself 100 Forzathon Points – or double if you own the Forza Horizon 4 VIP Membership or the Lake Lodge home. Weekly Forzathon events always centre around a specific car type, model or manufacturer, and allow you to try out the diverse roster of the more than 450 Forzavista cars available in the game. Additional Forzathon Points can be earned by completing daily challenges and participating in the shared Forzathon Live events, which occur every hour in the shared world. Forzathon Points can be spent in the Forzathon Shop, which offers a rotating stock of rare cars, clothing items and wheelspins.

This Week’s Forzathon Shop Stock

Every week, the Forzathon Shop replenishes its stock of exclusive cars and clothing items, and this week is no different. In terms of cars, we have the 2013 Caterham Superlight R500 Forza Edition for 275 Forzathon Points and the 2010 Morgan Aero Supersports for 150 Forzathon Points. Also available to purchase is the Halo Warthog Horn, which can be equipped and used on any vehicle in the game, as well as Snow Boots – the perfect character customization option for the Winter season.

These latest additions are accompanied by the usual Wheelspin and Super Wheelspin offerings, should you wish to test your luck in the hopes of winning some exciting new wheels, clothes or credit bonuses in exchange for those elusive Forzathon Points.

Italian Legends Dominate Britain

Forza Horizon 4 expands its offering of beloved classic cars with the latest batch of rides available for Car Pass holders. For those unaware, the Forza Horizon 4 Car Pass introduces two new cars every week for players to drive across beautiful, historic Britain – an initiative that lasts for a period of 21 weeks to deliver a total of 42 brand-new cars into the game.

This week’s Car Pass additions include a pair of Italian legends in the 2017 Ferrari GTC4Lusso and the 1972 Lamborghini Jarama S – both of which are ready to dominate the British racing scene in Forza Horizon 4. Remember, these rides are available to add to your in-game garage today at no additional cost if you own the Forza Horizon 4 Car Pass, included in both the Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition of the game. The Forza Horizon 4 Car Pass can also be acquired separately and is discounted for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Discover A British Winter Wonderland

Winter will remain available in Forza Horizon 4 until Thursday, January 10th, which is when we’ll see beautiful, historic Britain transform once more as Spring arrives and the flowers and trees blossom. Spring will bring a fresh, reborn atmosphere into Horizon Britain alongside the fourth and final week of the current Forza Horizon 4 series of content, which includes the 1966 Volkswagen Double Cab Pick-up and the 1938 MG TA Midget for Car Pass holders, as well as Ken Block’s Ford Hoonigan RS200 – which will be available to win via a Seasonal Championship exclusive to Spring.

Before we wrap up with Winter, however, don’t forget that the Winter Barn Find can also be located over the next seven days in Horizon Britain should you have missed it before, especially if you’re one of the Christmas newcomers to the game. This one can be found on an island in the middle of the frozen-over Derwent Water. You can see why it’s exclusive to this time of year. Find it and you’ll unlock a classic British automobile in the 1970 Range Rover, which will be repaired and added to your Forza Horizon 4 garage once its ready.

Forza Horizon 4 is available on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, as well as the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
