Being an avid gamer and editor, sometimes staring at monitors is all I really tend to do, so when BenQ reached out to me asking if I would like to review their new monitor, I obviously said yes. The BenQ EX3203R come with an absolute roster of features, which at first can seem a bit daunting. When I bought my original 20-inch monitors a few years back, all I wanted was a 1080p output and a 60hz refresh rate, and that was that. However, over the last few years technology has advanced fast, and monitors are quickly become more and more advanced with gizmos and features. The EX32030R is one of those monitors.
Firstly, the sheer size of the screen will blow you away, 30.5-inches is anything but small. With a 16:9 aspect ratio, adjustable height and a resolution of 2560 x 1440, the display is as crisp as anything I have ever seen. Every pixel packs an incredible punch, creating a sharp, clear image that is immensely pleasurable to the eye.
As well as its sharp display, it has also got a subtle curvature to it too, something I found that is incredibly immersive whilst playing racing games. The 1800R Curvature is just enough to draw you in, and immerse you inside whatever cock-pit you are sat in, or upon. Something else that is most likely to help give you further immersion whilst using these monitors is the HDR10 Content Support that it comes with. Now I know not every game, or TV show for that matter, comes with HDR enhancements, but my god, when using the EX3203R for anything HDR-enabled, it is just pure joy. The main bonus with this feature is the fact that it isn't that difficult to collaborate, which was something I was cautious about whilst setting up the screens. However, thankfully, there is a fairly long list of different HDR modes for you to collaborate your media too, and there are even separate options for you to personally fine tune these settings too.
But by far, my most favourite feature about this monitor is how much BENQ have tailored it for the consumer. Obviously, those who play games, watch films, and even edit a lot will be staring at at screens... a lot, so very handily, the EX3203R comes with a fantastic little setting called BenQ Eye-Care Technology. What this feature includes is Flicker-Free, Low Blue Light technology and Brightness Intelligence Plus (B.I+) technology. All of that essentially means whoever is using the monitor should be able to increase their productivity as the screen reduces eye strain and unwanted headaches, which is something often associated with monitors, and is something that myself occasionally suffers from too.
Overall the BenQ EX3203R is a huge step forward for monitor technology, something that I talk a little bit about throughout my video review. But as monitors go, yes it's got HDR, yes it's got a crystal clear display, but the one feature for me that trumps all of this is their Eye-Care Technology. A feature that I can't help but love because it feels like it's been made for me, the consumer, and at the end of the day, isn't that what we all want from technology? Something that feels like it's been custom made just for us, and that is exactly what the BenQ EX3203R is.
