This week, Codemasters invited us and YouTuber
Matt212 to their F1 2018 Preview event in London, England, where we had hands-on with this year’s official racing game of the Formula 1 World Championship. In addition to our hands-on time
with the Career Mode, Matt also had the opportunity to check out F1 2018 on a Playseat and Fanatec wheel setup worth £2,000.
The rig itself comes adorned with the official Formula 1 and Playseat branding, whilst the Fanatec steering wheel replicates that of an official F1 race car. There’s even an actual speedometer in the center to show how fast you’re currently driving. It truly is an authentic Formula 1 simulation experience, and it certainly beats most home setups in terms of immersion.
The F1 series has always felt incredible when played on a wheel and pedal setup, but this one takes it to new heights – and it was great for members of the media covering F1 2018 to have the chance to check it out on such an exquisite setup. In Matt’s video, which you can check out above, you’ll also see some of the venue and its surroundings for the Formula 1 Preview event in London – including that dominantly-pink 2017 Force India Formula 1 race car. Matt is also driving for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport on Suzuka Circuit with the ‘halo’ central column up.
F1 2018 will be available
on August 24th, 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. If you want to learn more about this year’s Codemasters title, be sure to check out our 40-minute career
hands-on video, as well as our detailed look at the new research
and development upgrades in the game. In addition, you can check out the
qualified drivers for this year’s F1 Esports Pro Series.
