The Grand Tour has had a successful second season no doubt,
with the trio having visited Switzerland, Mallorca, France, Italy, Croatia,
Dubai, Canada and the United States. The next episode is the one that fans have
been eagerly-awaiting as Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are
headed to Mozambique in a mini-special to ‘Feed the World’ and end world hunger.
In their effort to attempt to end world hunger, the trio
head on an incredible journey across Mozambique. Clarkson, Hammond, and May observe
that people in the coastal regions of this country are well-fed on the
bountiful supplies of fish from the ocean, while those in the interior exist on
the brink of hunger. Their solution is to find a way to transport that fish
inland but, predictably, they cannot agree on the best method to do this.
With Clarkson in a Nissan pick-up, May in an old Mercedes
200T, and Hammond on a brand new TVS Star motorcycle, the three invent different
methods of food transportation and set off an epic, challenging and
extraordinary journey to try and save the world.
The Mozambique Special will also show Richard Hammond’s most
recent crash, where he was knocked unconscious after falling from a bike (which
happened numerous times) and hitting his head. Amazon has already said that the
footage will be shown during the special, so you can expect yet another crash
from Richard Hammond to cap off what has been a fantastic season overall of the
Amazon Prime Original.
Whilst some anticipate this to be the final episode of The
Grand Tour for Season 2, that isn’t exactly the case – but it will be the last
one we’ll see for a while. You see, The Grand Tour will have another special
episode later this year, with rumours suggesting we’ll see it out on Amazon
Prime sometime around August 2018 before the third season commences towards the
end of the year. This upcoming special that was shot earlier in the year sees
the trio head to Columbia in large off-roaders.
The Grand Tour had a two-part special for Season 1, which was
released over the Christmas holidays in 2016. It saw the trio head to Namibia,
but it did end on a slight anti-climactic note, which Tom Matthews
discussed in a feature
story about the Season 2 specials for The Grand Tour. So, if you want to
learn more about what we’ll potentially see the trio up to in Columbia with
their off-road 4x4s, then make sure you don’t miss that one.
The Mozambique film is described as a “mini-special,” which
means it’ll just be the standalone episode, not a two-parter, and it will
likely be around 60 minutes in length. Besides the introduction, there shouldn’t
be any studio segments either, so that means no Conversation Street or
Celebrity Face-Off. If it’s anything like what we’ve seen from the trio before
throughout this excellent second season, then this latest episode of The Grand
Tour will be one not to be missed.
Catch the Mozambique Special of The Grand Tour on Amazon Video this Friday, February 16th. For
more on the adventures of Clarkson, Hammond, and May, don’t miss our other
feature story that discusses our thoughts and impressions of the second
season of The Grand Tour, and stay tuned for more coverage from the fan-favourite
Amazon Prime Original in the future.
