Recently, Alan and I were presented with the opportunity to visit the Veloce Esports HeadQuarters in London. Veloce Esports is a racing esports team that compete in the Forza Racing Championship, the F1 Esports Series, the DiRT Esports Series and many other tournaments. They, along with their sister company Veloce Sports, have a HeadQuarter space in London where they run their team. In the offices, they have 6 different sim racing rigs, including 2 designed for streaming, and a full motion simulator rig with a 270 degree field of vision. So, when they offered us the opportunity to come down and visit them, of course we accepted.
This is the first part of our coverage from the day, and is a 19 minute long interview with co-founder Jamie MacLaurin. As well as being the co-founder of one of the fastest growing racing esports teams, Jamie is also the Operations Manager for the brand new Sauber Alfa Romeo Esports Team - the official esports team of the Sauber F1 team. This interview delves deeper into many aspects of both teams including the creation of Veloce Esports, the rapid expansion of the team and what’s in store for the future - as well as much much more.
