Ubisoft has revealed the second unique vehicle debuting in The Crew 2 as part of its weekly Motorsports
Vehicle Series. This time, we’re leaving the asphalt behind for the rip-roaring world of aerobatics and smoke trails as we take to the skies in the Zivko Edge 540 V3.
Those who’d rather freestyle and participate in air race events will need some seriously high-end equipment to make it to the top, and this is where the Zivko Edge 540 V3 comes into play.
Zivko’s dominance over professional aerobatics has led it to becoming the preferred manufacturer for world-class competitors. This is due how lightweight the one-seater aircraft is – combined with a highly-durable fuselage – which for those unfamiliar with the term, is its main body section. The Zivko Edge 540 V3 is also computer-designed and extensively fatigue-analysed. It’s made from a 4130-steel tube frame with a full carbon fiber body to keep weight to a minimum.
One innovation deployed by Zivko is its use of a straight-edge wing on the original Edge 540. This caused the aircraft manufacturer to take the aerobatics scene by storm, and it’s since been refined and developed further – and is now recognised as a pioneering design in the sport.
The V3 that will be appearing in The Crew 2 is a later version of this original aircraft. In addition to the increased tolerance of G-loads, the body has been upgraded to improve aerodynamics and reduce drag. It boasts a modified Textron-Lycoming AEIO-540 engine, putting out 340bhp at 2900 rpm – a significant amount of power for such a light plane.
Overall, the Zivko Edge 540 V3 is the perfect aircraft to take to the skies for both adrenaline-seekers and freestylers alike in The Crew 2! You’ll be able to fly it for yourself once the game
launches on June 29th, 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. If you missed it, check out the first entry in the Motorsports Vehicle Series – which focuses on the 2018 Renault
Megane R.S. and how you can use it to tear up the asphalt of America in The Crew 2.
